RENOWNED SPA AT NORWICH INN OFFERS COUNTRY GETAWAY PACKAGES IN A CHARMING NEW ENGLAND INN

NORWICH, Conn. – What do you do for a romantic weekend at a classic New England country inn that is also a highly regarded spa?

At the Spa at Norwich Inn, you have a choice when you book one of the flexible weekend or weekday Country Retreat Getaway Packages. These packages include guestroom and two meals per day, leaving you the options of either booking award-winning, luxurious spa services separately or getting into the car and striking off on your own. Those who choose to can explore the local countryside and shops and visit nearby attractions, including Mystic Seaport, the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center and Foxwoods Resort Casino.

“These packages allow guests who want stress relief and pampering to choose their own spa treatments when they make their reservations, and they allow guests who want to explore the very charming New England countryside and visit some of our famous attractions to have plenty of time to do so,” said John G. O’Shaughnessy, the spa’s general manager.

The historic Norwich Inn was opened in 1930 and offered nearby golf, horseback riding and summer stock theater to city dwellers who wanted a luxurious country escape. In the property’s early days, it hosted celebrities who including George Bernard Shaw, Charles Laughton, Frank Sinatra and the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII).

In 1983, a spa was built on the property, making it a magnet for stars like Barbra Streisand, Michael Douglas and Joan Rivers. A $15 million renovation completed in 2000 doubled the size of the spa and saw the return of celebrities, including Barbara Walters, Tony Bennett, Chris Rock, Gloria Estefan and Regis Philbin, who have enjoyed the luxurious accommodations, lavish meals, personal services and top-notch spa treatments for which the property is known.

The Weekend Country Getaway Retreat weekend package requires a two-night stay. It is priced $195 per person per night, for double, triple or quadruple occupancy. For single occupancy, the price is $325 per night. Taxes, gratuities and service charges are additional on all packages.  The package includes breakfast and dinner each day, and a two-night weekend stay is required. Spa services, if desired, must be booked separately. A concierge is available to assist guests who want to explore the local countryside.

The weekday price for the package is $150 per person, per night, for double, triple or quadruple occupancy.  For single occupancy, the price is $220 per night. Taxes, gratuities and service charges are additional on all packages.
