CELEBRITY DESIGNER CHRIS MADDEN CELEBRATES LAUNCH OF HER NEW MAGAZINE, AT HOME WITH CHRIS MADDEN, BY PAMPERING HER STAFF
AT THE SPA AT NORWICH INN
NORWICH, Conn - Professional athletes may trumpet a trip to Disney World as their reward for winning a championship, but home and design guru Chris Casson Madden celebrated the May 3 publication of her new magazine today in a more personal way -- by inviting her magazine staff to The Spa at Norwich Inn for a heavenly day of pampering and relaxation.
"My team members have put their hearts and souls into our new magazine. I wanted to reward them by sharing with them my own favorite getaway," said Madden, who has been coming to the renowned Connecticut spa for 20 years.
Chris pronounced her first treatment "to die for." It was a Native Hot Stone Therapy , which used heated basalt stones during massage to help facilitate a deeper sense of muscle relaxation.
She also relaxed with the ancient Ayurvedic treatment Shirodhara, a soothing scalp treatment designed to calm the central nervous system with the slow dripping of warm, herb-infused oils on the forehead.
Other staff members selected the European Deep Cleansing Facial, one of the spa's signature treatments, and Swedish Massage, a classic therapeutic massage, to work out the kinks in muscles made tight from the tension of "putting the magazine to bed" for the first time.
It's no wonder Ms. Madden sets aside time for self-renewal with periodic visits to The Spa at Norwich Inn. She's written 16 books, is a regular guest on national television shows and created the Chris Madden Collection, which includes designs for every room of the house, from furniture and bedding to window treatments and bath and includes spa products - robes, towels, head wraps and candles -- and has signed a multi-year deal as the JCPenney Home Collection spokesperson. Her new magazine, At Home With Chris Madden, celebrates home as both a place of comfort and rejuvenation and is published by Hachette Filipacci Media USA.
