THE SALON AT THE SPA
IS TURNING HEADS
AT THE NORWICH INN
New salon, for both women & men
opens its doors to local residents
as well as Spa guests
NORWICH, Conn - Residents of Southeastern Connecticut can take advantage of the newly-opened Salon at The Spa at Norwich Inn for stylish haircutting as well as customized scalp treatments using products from the exclusive René Furterer of Paris line.
"We are happy to welcome local women and men to our salon," said stylist Kristin A. St. Germain of Plainfield. "You don't need to be a guest at the Norwich Inn or purchase any spa services in order to make an appointment at the new salon."
Located above the lobby of the Norwich Inn, The Salon offers hair care services that are "spa-like" in their use of botanical oils and relaxing head and scalp massage.
The Salon's stylist is Kristin A. St. Germain of Plainfield, who has worked as a hair stylist for 16 years and has owned a salon of her own. She believes that her job is all about the health of the hair, including the hair's cuticle and root.
"When I touch the hair, I know immediately if it has been colored, perm'ed or washed in hard water. If it has a good sheen, I know it's healthy," she says.
If all is not well with the client's hair, she has "a phenomenal line" of René Furterer of Paris products containing distilled plant essences that clean and nourish the scalp.
The Customized Scalp Treatment starts with a 10-minute hair and scalp massage using Furterer's Complex 5, which consists of 66 per cent pure essential oils. The treatment opens the hair cuticle and root with purifying, stimulating and nourishing elements that strengthen the hair and the root. Step two is a 10-minute massage with a vitamin clay mask. For step three, the stylist applies a personalized treatment formula to address whatever problem exists for the particular customer: chemically treated hair, dry ends, thinning hair, oily, dry or flaky scalp; or sensitive scalp. The cost of this one-hour service starts at $75, and includes a shampoo and blow-dry at the end.
This treatment, as well as all Salon services, are for women and men. Prices start from $35 for a woman's wash and blow-dry and $30 for a man's cut and style. And salon clients don't even have to get out of their chairs to have their hair washed. A four-foot-tall, German-made sink is simply rolled to the client's chair. And, if the client wants to be totally decadent, he or she can ask the stylist to place a room service order-perhaps a glass of champagne? - and have it delivered to the Salon.
To make a reservation, please call the Spa at 886-2401, Extension 600 or 690.
