9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Either Sun/Mon/Sat or Thu/Fri/Sat

  • Takes reservations for overnight rooms and spa appointments as well as day spa reservations for individuals.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to do basic math and use a calculator.
  • Ability to sit for 6-8 hours at a time.
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling as it is based on business demands.
  • The environment of the reservation’s office is professional, and customer service driven. The environment is one large room with up to eight reservationists answering phones and booking reservations.

Department: HOTEL FRONT OFFICE
Pay Range – Hourly plus Gratuity

  • Set-up of Banquet Rooms, serve food and/or beverages in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Knowledge of appropriate table settings and serviceware. Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items. Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g. coffeemaker.
  • High school diploma preferred. Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout a shift. Shift hours will differ in length of time.

  • Greets and registers arriving guests at check-in. Handles guest inquiries and addresses any reported problems quickly and efficiently. Keeps guest’s accounts current and documents all room changes.  Checks out all departing guests.  Communicates necessary information with other staff and departments.  Maintains cash banks and issues/closes out safety deposit boxes. Handles all front desk accounting needs.

Department: HOTEL FRONT OFFICE

  • Assists with luggage upon check-in or check-out. Escorts guests from the lobby to their room and familiarizes them with the hotel’s services and guest room information. Provides guest services as requested by the front desk and also offers valet parking to guests.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and must be able to drive a standard transmission
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills, friendly and able to deal with people, able to prioritize and be multi-task oriented. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Basic math skills.
  • Guest service experience a plus, but not necessary.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Must be able to push, pull, tug, and carry 50 pounds.

Department: HOUSEKEEPING
Pay Range – Hourly Commensurate with Education and Experience
Requires a flexible schedule based on business, client, and staffing demands.

  • Supervises, trains, and inspects the performance of all personnel assigned, ensuring that all assignments are completed according to the standards set by the Inn. Prepares and distributes assignments; Inspects and approves cleaning of guest rooms, linen closets, and public areas on the floor; provides feedback on staff performance to Housekeeping Manager; monitors and resolves guest complaints; updates and verifies room status on computer reports; attend meetings; completes work orders for maintenance repairs.
  •  3 years of experience in housekeeping with a broad knowledge of the property required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Good guest relations skills. Ability to effectively communicate at a level necessary to read and follow instruction.
  • Able to stand for an extended period. Ability to lift up to fifteen (15) lb. Requires bending, reaching, standing, walking with repetitive motions for extended periods without restriction. Most duties will be performed indoors; however, time is spent walking between the Inn and the Villa in inclement weather.

  • Consistently performs laundry duties under the direction of the Laundry Supervisor.
  • Empties and sorts soiled linen from spa chute, rooms, and villas.
  • Washes, dries, presses, folds, stacks, and distributes all laundry
  • Loads and unloads washers and dryers.
  • Keeps work area neat and tidy.
  • Sweeps and mops laundry floors.
  • Adheres to safety standards of the department.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by Housekeeping Manager or Laundry Supervisor.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate laundry equipment.
  • Follows Inn and department standards and procedures.
  • Prior experience helpful but not necessary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at a level necessary to read and follow instructions.
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs.

Department: SPA FRONT DESK

  • Responsible for welcoming guests, providing them with their daily itinerary, explaining services offered, assisting with any scheduling changes, checking out departing overnight guests, suggestive selling of retail products and treatment upgrades, receiving forms of payment for goods and services sold and maintaining an accurate cash bank. Responsible for ensuring a pristine guest environment including front of and back of the house areas. Responsible for ensuring all Spa guest information is updated and corrected in the ResortSuite system.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written skills. Ability to deal well with people, especially under pressure. Must possess proficient computer skills with keyboard agility. Must be able to interpret documents.

Department: SPA

  • Responsible for requesting and stocking all linen, locker room amenities, and supplies as needed; as well as keeping these areas clean.  Assists and directs guests to the proper location to await their treatments.  Distributes keys, lockers, robes, slippers and guest supplies.  Acts as Ambassador / Ambassadress to our guests before and after their treatments.

Department: SPA/SALON

  • Under the supervision of Spa Management the incumbent will perform massage therapy and will be trained to perform other spa body treatments including but not limited to hydrotherapy, body wraps, exfoliation treatments, hot stone treatments, etc. General knowledge of spa operations, equipment, products and procedures are essential.
  • Must be currently licensed as a Massage Therapist in the State of Connecticut. National certification a plus.

Department: MAINTENANCE

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates overall facility maintenance functions and approved capital expenditure projects. Adheres to established Policies, Standards, and Procedures. Ensures that equipment, materials, techniques and procedures comply with relevant state, federal and local codes and regulations. Ensures proper routine maintenance and repair of facility structures, systems and support areas to minimize downtime of facility/operations. Monitors fuel and utility consumption, budgets expenses, ensure timely delivery of appropriate quantities. Maintains inventories and ensures timely replacement of required spare parts, units, tools, chemicals and equipment necessary to keep the facility in proper, efficient operating condition at all times. Coordinates repair and maintenance projects throughout the facility to ensure minimal business interruption; interfaces with executive management to advise and counsel relative to building management issues. Troubleshoots all system defects or malfunctions relative to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, power plant operations; repairs, replaces, or contracts with appropriate outside sources as necessary. Plans and budgets responsibly for operational needs and requirements. Monitors construction projects ensuring compliance to specifications and quality of contractor performance. Promotes teamwork, communication and a grievance-free environment within the department. Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned. Ensures that an effective p.m. program is carried out at the property. Hires and trains employees within the department. Oversees the outside security service to ensure compliance with established policies, standards, and procedures. Takes a leadership role in the property safety program. Promotes positive public/employee relations at all times. Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within the area of responsibility. Participates in property Executive Committee.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, as well as 5-7 years of mechanical systems, experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Department: MAINTENANCE

  • General Maintenance in a hospitality environment. Perform a variety of labor-intensive tasks such as furniture relocation and setup, general cleaning, and vehicle maintenance. Assigned daily, weekly and monthly routine checks of equipment. Assist co-workers with projects and tasks as requested. Snow removal including hand shoveling, spreading ice melt, sanding and salting roadways.
  • Must be willing to learn a variety of repairs and routine assignments associated with the maintenance department.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. Individual must have 2 to 3 years prior experience as a construction laborer, equipment assembler or in a maintenance-related field.

Department: SALES
Salary Commensurate with Education and Experience

  • Under the direction of the Director of Sales, the incumbent qualifies inquiries, maintains existing group business and generates new group business from prospective companies to create room, food & beverage and spa revenue for The Spa at Norwich Inn properties and ensures top quality customer service.
  • Researches, qualifies and solicits new business over the telephone, through email, direct mail, outside sales calls, attending industry trade shows and conferences.
  • Achieve assigned booking pace room and food and beverage revenues. Responds to all RFP’s in a timely manner. Achieves assigned booking pace revenue goal.
  • Conducts site inspections, entertains clients, makes presentations and participates in customer familiarization events promoting The Spa at Norwich Inn.
  • Experience with the Delphi sales system preferred.
  • Bachelor degree and a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a sales manager in a hotel or conference center or (2) years as a conference/catering manager. Alternately a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of four (4) years of experience.
  • Ability to transport supplies and equipment to trade shows with assistance when needed. Valid driver license to make outside sales calls and attend client events.
  • Position is in an office environment approx. 80% of time with off-site travel required approx. 20% of the time.
